Applying

The Semester in Los Angeles program welcomes all students who meet the eligibility criteria. Enrollment is limited to 45 students each semester, so we encourage students to submit an application as follows:

Application deadline: Applications can be submitted any time, and students will be enrolled on a first-come first served basis for a limited number of seats, under the following arrangement: 33 seats are reserved for UT-Austin students and 12 seats are reserved for non UT-Austin students. Eligible applicants who cannot be admitted immediately due to these enrollment priorities will be placed on a program waitlist.

Acceptance notifications are sent out as applications are reviewed, and final acceptance to the program is contingent upon successful submission of all required application items and receipt of a non-refundable program fee deposit. However, when an applicant applies AFTER the deadline for “the last day to request a housing fee refund,” the applicant is automatically accepted into the program (provided the applicant has met the program eligibility requirements) and is responsible to meet all financial obligations to the program (i.e. housing fees and program fees) as indicated on the program website’s Fees and Expenses page. Some refunds may be available based on the Timeline/Checklist.

Should seats remain available approximately 60 days prior to the Oakwood Apartments check-in date in Los Angeles, students who are on the waitlist will be admitted based on their date of application, whether they are UT-Austin students or not. Once students are notified of their acceptance, they will have 5 days to confirm their intent to participate in the program.
